Step-By-Step Spring & Summer Makeup Routine 2018

Spring/summer makeup looks are my favourite kind of makeup looks, they allow me to experiment with colour and be a little bolder than I usually would. Bright nails, bubblegum pink lips and a glowy base – the ingredients for the most amazing summery makeup look, eh? Keep on reading to discover my step-by-step guide on getting the most amazing makeup look for summer on a budget!

As you are probably well aware, I am besotted with Fragrance Direct. Whenever I am on a tight budget, but want to treat myself a little, Fragrance Direct aide me in getting high quality products for not so high prices. I was never really aware that they stocked makeup until last year, and since then, they have been my go-to makeup destination. Some products work out cheaper than going to Boots or Superdrug, which is perfect for anyone on a tight budget (especially if you're a student and blogger like myself).

For this glowy, bright and super summery face of makeup, I combined a few high end pieces, with a few budget pieces – and the result is incredible!

A glowing base, with glimmers of coral

I am loving a dewy base with coral hints at the moment, especially for this time of the year as we approach summer. Recently I've been besotted with the MAC Matchmaster foundation (£29.50 from Fragrance Direct) in the shade 1.0 – perfect for pale gals looking for a summer glow, this demi-matte finish foundation leaves my skin looking and feeling amazing. The perfect balance of dewy and matte, the Matchmaster foundation applies evenly and blends beautifully. With a gloss like texture, this foundation mixes well with the Charlotte Tilbury Hollwood Flawless Filter to achieve the most amazing glowing base ever.

After applying the Matchmaster foundation by MAC and the Hollywood Flawless Filter by Charlotte Tilbury in the shade 4 Medium (read my post all about this product, here), I'll apply a little touch of Calvin Klein's CK One Mousse Concealer which is £3.95 (from FD), (which I stupidly forgot to photograph) and then I'll apply Benefit's GALifornia blush (£24.50 from FD) as it's been a must-wear for me recently. GALifornia is a stunning blush that's of a coral hue with gold glimmers. When applied to the apples of the cheeks graduating out to the cheek bones, the result is truly stunning. Coral cheeks with a golden highlight that extends.

Bold eyes, brows lips and nails...

After the base, I'll then move onto eyes, brows, lips and nails. But first up, eyes... So for my eyes I'm rather partial to a bold wing, and lately I've been loving this black liner by L'Oréal, it even has tiny bits of glitter, which looks rather gorgeous when caught under the sun. I pair bare lids with a thick wing and then some gorgeous lashes that look super natural yet deep and sultry. For the liner I use L'Oréal's Super Liner Ultra Precision Eyeliner (£2.99 from FD), and to achieve these ultra-black, super lengthy and uber natural lashes, I simply apply lashings of the Volume Million Lashes Fatale by L'Oréal (£4.99 from FD). After around 3 coats, my eyes are done. I like to keep my eyes natural yet bold (hence no eyeshadow), especially as it's spring/summer and I want a poppin' pink lip!

For my brows I use the Benefit Goof Proof Brow pencil (£20 from FD), which is an amazing brow pencil that I've been obsessed with ever since Elle gave away free samples last summer. I use the shade 2 and then top the colour up a little with some Gimme Brow, which is also by Benefit.

Once my base, eyes and brows are complete it's time to apply my favourite component of makeup... lipstick, of course! I'm really loving the pink Lancôme lipstick that I featured in this post, it's L'Absolu Rouge in 402 Rose Acidulée, and it's the most dreamy lipstick imaginable. You can read my full post on the Lancôme lipstick here.

Finally, it's time to get some funky talons! Fragrance Direct stock Essie, and for amazing prices too. When I discovered that they stocked Essie nail polishes for just £2.95. I got the colours Bussi Bussi (a gorgeous bright fuchsia pink), I'm Addicted (a beautiful turquoise/teal hue) and Aim To Misbehave (a bright and bold yellow, with glimmers of sparkle). I'm really loving painting each nail a different colour, so this is my go-to spring nail trend for for sure, and for just £2.95 for a really high quality nail polish, how can anybody refuse?!

So there, that's how I create a super glowy makeup look for spring/summer 2018! Each year I try to change up my go-to makeup look, so check out last years look here. I'm really loving this years makeup look though, it definitely seems more glowy and summery somehow. And also, how amazing is Fragrance Direct for their affordable makeup!?
