Spring Makeup for pale girls | Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear foundation Beige Opale 008 review and the perfect spring lips

Tuesday 3 April 2018

When you're pale, finding makeup that matches your skin tone perfectly can be a challenge and a half. Shades that don't work well, formulations that oxidise and lipsticks that wash us out – the disasters really are endless for us pale gals! Just because I've been blogging for over four years, and trying out endless foundations does not mean that I had found my perfect shade, until just a few weeks ago! So I took the plunge and decided to try the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear foundation in the shade Beige Opale 008, and the results were amazing! Pale girls, you need to continue reading...

Spring is a time for enhancing our natural beauty, and what better way to do this than with some beautiful makeup products? Lancôme is a brand that instantly springs to mind when I think about spring makeup – why? Because their products enhance your beauty in the best ways possible.

I'm a very pale girl, so finding the perfect makeup for spring is incredibly important – especially due to the days being lighter for longer, I need to ensure that my makeup looks perfect all day, and stays in place well too.

Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear foundation (Beige Opale 008)

For my base, I apply the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear foundation in the shade 008. If I want to add a little colour and glow to my face, I'll apply the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter beneath the foundation. The shade Beige Opale 008 is incredibly light, and oh so perfect for pale girls like myself. With neither a pink or yellow undertone, this foundation is perfect for girls with an olive undertone (basically, if you tan well in the summer but are a pale gal at heart). I'm uber pale throughout the entire year, but I've always tanned really well in the summer, so it's always been really difficult for me to find a shade that suits me throughout the transitional seasons – and so far, this foundation seems to be doing the trick! I may put it in the 'restbite makeup drawer' when we're in the height of summer (if we get some sun this year), but only because I love to go makeup free throughout the warmer months weeks.

The foundation itself has a lovely texture – it's super lightweight, yet the coverage is really quite something. It covers every single tiny blemish and imperfection, which is perfect as I'm prone to the occasional breakout. The finish isn't matte, nor is it uber dewy; it's a difficult one to describe but I'd say it has a super natural demi-matte finish. I've found that it doesn't oxidise at all on my skin, which is brilliant as sometimes I find foundation (any foundation, especially Healthy Mix by Bourjois) tends to oxidise on my forehead – no idea why just my forehead tends to go this way, but unfortunately it does... but not with Lancôme's Tent Idole Ultra Wear in the shade Beige Opale 008.

I always apply my foundation with a stippling brush either from Spectrum, Real Techniques or EcoTools – this gives me the best coverage, as I feel beauty blenders don't quite do it for me.

Overall, this foundation is incredible. It has amazing staying power, it matches perfectly with my skin tone and I honestly wish I had found it sooner. I feel that this is the most perfect shade for me as it's neither warm nor cool, pink nor yellow – it's perfectly situated in the middle and that's what I love about it. If you have a similar skin tone to me, and tend to struggle with similar issues regarding foundation coverage, oxidisation and foundation undertones, then I highly recommend this foundation and I definitely think you should give it a try.

Spring lip products

Spring lip products when you're pale can be super hard to find. Pinks can be too blue hued, and reds can be too bold (although, for me, a red can never be too bold). I always really struggle however, finding the perfect bubblegum hued pink lipsticks, but this one by Lancôme is perfect. From their new Spring 2018 collection, their L'Absolu Rouge in 402 Rose Acidulée is the most amazing bubblegum pink I've ever set my eyes (well, lips) on! At first I was a little dubious as it looks incredibly bright, but trust me, it's absolutely stunning! If you're looking for a popping pink that really is the main feature of your makeup look, then this pink lippy is definitely for you.

I was never really a fan of lip gloss until around a year ago when I started to delve into the world of lip glosses a little more. If you're not looking for rich pigment and a bold dense finish, then wearing a gloss will definitely suit you more than a bold lipstick. Sometimes if I'm going for a more understated makeup look, wearing a gloss will complete my makeup look really well. The L'Absolu Gloss Cream in 132 Caprice is a stunning cherry red that has a sheeny translucence about it, which is perfect for when you're looking to achieve a lip that isn't too 'in your face' or too bold and heavy. For example, if you're opting for a bold smokey eye, you won't necessarily want a bold, dense red lip. Or if you've got a really pale complexion and feel that bold, dense lip shades and formulations aren't for you, give this gloss cream a try and you'll never look back! It still has a bold pigment, but the finish is much more muted and natural. I adore this gloss, it's so perfect for spring/summer when we want more of a natural makeup look.

I really hope these tips helped you, especially if you're a pale gal like myself and struggle with similar makeup issues. Whenever I discover something new, and amazing, I just have to share it with you – so I really hope you found these three new discoveries and few little tips useful!

  1. Such a lovely post. Even though we are in the colder months now here in Australia. I wear spring/autumn makeup looks all year round - I don't really go by seasons/weather haha. That lancome foundation sounds really wonderful, I definitely need to check it out. That red shade is also gorgeous.
