Haircare | OGX Coconut Water Shampoo and Conditioner Review

If you're looking for silky, shiny, smooth hair that feels lightweight yet luscious, look no further. OGX's Coconut Water Shampoo and Conditioner is the answer to your hairs worries and woes. Organic ingredients, SLS-free, cruelty free and salon worthy results? It's a no brainer, you just have to keep reading.

My hair is naturally dry and frizzy with oily roots. I usually have to wash my hair each and every night, which doesn't bother me in the slightest but somedays I could really do without it all. But since using this wonder duo, I've noticed that it doesn't matter if I do happen to skip a wash every now and again. How? How can I skip a wash when I have oily roots and dry ends? Well, my friend, OGX's Coconut Water* is the reason that it's not mandatory for myself to wash my hair each and every night. My hair needs cleansing for the oily roots and hydrating for the dry ends and this product ticks all of the boxes. On their products they say: "Drench you dehydrated strands in ultra lightweight, hydrating formula with coconut water, electrolytes and coconut oil. This supercharged blend helps to transform dry, parched hair into silky, shiny perfection." and I couldn't agree more with this statement.

Where are the coconuts from?

The coconut's that OGX use to create this miracle duo are from the Philippines. They tend to use young green coconuts as the dew inside of them is super hydrating and infused with proteins, calcium, vitamins and potassium. All of the benefits that coconut water and oil can hep our bodies achieve also work very similarly on our hair.

My thoughts

The first thing you notice about this gorgeous duo of haircare products, is the divine fragrance that is released once the bottles are opened. The sweet smelling coconut scent fills the entire bathroom and caresses your senses like a tropical breeze - this haircare duo seriously smells of summer! The clear, lightweight shampoo (that smells amazing) removes any dirt, grease and and oil from my scalp and roots, which is fantastic and does just what I have been looking for, for many years. It's incredible how such a clear, lightweight formula can revive your hair so much in such a simple way. The conditioner is also of a super lightweight formula - it caresses the ends of your hair but doesn't clog up your strands, instead it leaves them feeling soft, silky and moisturised. Like the shampoo, the conditioner smells just as dreamy. I tend to leave conditioner on for a maximum of five minutes but I could tell that 3 minutes or even less would have done the job with this fabulous conditioner. When rinsed fully, your hair feels light, dry ends feel replenished and roots feel cleansed and grease free.

SLS-free, Cruelty Free and Organic? Yes please!

OGX don't use SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulphate) in any of their products. SLS is a foaming agent used by many highstreet and big haircare brands. In the past I have suffered with an itchy/flaky scalp and SLS can promote this, so I love knowing that the products I am using are SLS-free, therefore, this won't make my scalp feel uncomfortable, itchy and flaky. SLS can strip your hair of natural oils, cause your scalp to become problematic and cause your roots to become oily. OGX's haircare products are all pH balanced, organic and aren't tested on animals either, which makes their products even more appealing to me and so many others.

If your hair type isn't greasy roots with dry ends, then fear not, as OGX have a very wide variety of haircare products to suit every hair type imaginable. Argan Oil for renewing hair, Kukui Oil to fight frizz and leave a glossy shine, Tea Tree Mint to revive and stimulate your hair and scalp or Niacin3 & Caffeine to combat hair loss - there really is something for everybody and every hair type. OGX are easily accessible and available from Boots, Superdrug, Waitrose, Tesco and Asda (in the UK). Check out the full range of OGX haircare products here, and discover your hair's new best friend. 385ml, which is there normal size (travel minis are available) retail at £6.99, which is an incredible price for salon worthy, organic, cruelty free, SLS-free, revived, lightweight hair. I would definitely love to try more of OGX's haircare products, it's safe to say I'm now hooked on how my hair feels and I feel as though there's no going back to other mediocre hair products I have used previously.

  1. Great review Mollie! I absolutely adore the OGX range, especially the purple one, they have revolutionised my hair! I love that they don't contain any Sodium Laureth Sulphate like most brands and I don't even need to use conditioner with them, they take my hair from strength to strength!
